Solutions Team Manager

Solutions Team Manager

Our solutions department work to improve our customer’s use of technology.   By aiding the customer to understand and select the right solutions, designing and installing the right supporting infrastructure and keeping our support team informed of the changes and improvements.

This role is an exciting opportunity to perform a key role in an industry leading IT service business with ambitious growth plans.

Our “solutions” team:

At this time (October 2017) this team consists of 6 team members, however it is envisaged this will rapidly grow over the next year.  A core aspect of the role will be developing an appropriate structure and recruit, develop and retain the right talent to meet the future objectives of the business.

The team consists of the following roles:

  • Account Directors (vITD)
  • Admin Team
  • Project Delivery Engineers

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the board, accountable for all aspects of departmental performance, including:

  • Service delivery standards and account management
  • Measured and continual customer technology improvement
  • Financial performance and profitability for the department
  • Management of overall team members including wages and HR issues
  • Weekly 1-2-1s with direct reports
  • Hiring of new team members (role advertisement, interview process and hiring)
  • Development and management of team target compensation to drive enthusiasm for profitable project delivery

To Qualify

This role is key to the success and future growth of the business and as such, we are looking for exceptional applicants who can demonstrate excellence in the following areas:

  • Understand our clients business requirement, build a business case to aid justification and design a suitable solution
  • Designing suitable technical solutions, keeping an eye on various new technologies to enable our customers to grow and prosper in their respective markets.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of our customer’s business operations and how technology can be used to provide improvements, making recommendations where appropriate.
  • Managing more complex projects and ability to track progress of overall project delivery for the entire team

Virtual IT Director

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our highly motivated and dynamic team, based in Frome, Somerset, as a customer facing Strategic IT Advisor : Virtual IT Director (VITD)

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with key client stakeholders on a daily basis, evaluating IT infrastructure, identifying risk, researching and presenting IT solutions to bring business benefits and growth.

You will essentially act as an outsourced IT Director, helping the heads of our client’s business, so a desire and excitement to learn and understand a vast array of business types and needs is key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security) and evaluate them according to established procedure and tool sets
  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by their clients’ upper management
  • Analyse the business requirements of all departments and overall businesses to determine their technology needs
  • Make efficient and cost-effective technological proposals for infrastructure and software platform adoption
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems
  • Act as the senior account contact for their business and take full accountability for their service to the client
  • Develop, present, and control client IT budget
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient solutions.

To qualify:

  • Proven experience as IT manager, 3rd line engineer or similar role (5+ years)
  • You will have proven problem solving and analytical skills
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Experience in controlling information technology budget
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • Able to identify and interpret business needs and requirements
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus.
