I have been spending a lot of time recently thinking about WHY we do what we do, and in this post, I’m going to attempt to put it into words – which was much harder than I thought it would be.
IT Services and support for business – it’s not exactly rock and roll is it? Some might even say it’s a bit boring… and there are a million IT companies around, all delivering these kinds of services, so if it were just about the nuts and bolts… it really wouldn’t give us much to live for would it?
As a team, Netitude works with technology and we are experts in delivering secure, robust and dependable IT infrastructure. I can safely say our technology team genuinely find technology exciting, living on the pulse of constant change and development.
But that’s not why we do what we do. There’s certainly no room for “technology for technology’s sake”.
Like it or not, technology is underpinning a great deal of business today, if things aren’t working then it’s lost productivity, if things aren’t secure and you suffer from attack or virus infection, again its yet more loss to productivity – this is what great and secure infrastructure delivers – silence & rock solid dependable systems that work day in day out for your business. To deliver this, you really need to understand it, and as we are, be excited by it.
Now, here we are talking about the really good stuff. Knowing what we do enables our clients to progress, to achieve more, to develop and grow as users of technology. This is getting closer to why we do what we do.
One of the biggest recognised problems in IT is user education, so the more we can do to help our customers use the right technology in the best way and to its full potential, the better. It’s a small difference in attitude, but the result is huge. Our entire team understand that we are able to help with technology because we love technology, in equal measure we don’t know about what it takes to design a building, or blow up a rock face, or advise on financial investments, so we have respect for the users we are dealing with and know everyone is a little bit different, everyone has strengths and weaknesses, ours just happens to be technology.
I’m also really proud to say we also have a really great bunch of people that genuinely care about the service we deliver – because not all IT problems are caused by failing technology, sometimes it’s just about being a helping hand.
Growth can mean all sorts of things, and we mean it in all sorts of ways too. Growth in the businesses we work with, growth in the abilities of the users we help, growth in understanding of the various systems and technologies available, and hopefully, after all that… the growth of the bottom line for the businesses that we assist.
Why we do what we do
I think the key thing is the satisfaction that comes from seeing the results, our customers benefiting from IT systems that truly work as they should, seeing them use technology as an advantage, not just a begrudged necessity.
Technology shouldn’t hinder your progress, it should enhance it.
